Why is it important to preserve forests? Why not just plant new forest?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

A naturally grown forest is home to a variety of plants and animals. Old trees die, fall over and again form a basis of life for microorganisms, insects and fungi. In a natural forest, there are trees in different stages of growth and the sunlight often penetrates to the forest floor. Carbon dioxide is not only bound in the trunk, but also to a large extent in the root network of the trees.<\/span><\/p>

In contrast, a forest planted by humans usually consists of one and the same, often fast-growing type of wood, densely planted hardly any light penetrates through the branches. These monocultures provide hardly any food for the animal and plant world. After a short growth phase, the trees are felled, the soil is torn open and carbon dioxide is released for years to come.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Old, natural forests are less and less to be found, they are only available in the per mille range. Klimaskog is committed to preserving these irreplaceable treasures. In Norway, over 75% of the forest is privately owned, with your help we are confident to convince forest owners of the need for forest protection. To this end, we carry out educational work and sometimes pay compensation for loss of income. Last year, for example, we were able to save a 135-hectare area for which the clearing machines had already been ordered from deforestation.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
